Since 1983, John has been assisting his clients as a financial consultant specializing in retirement and estate planning. John is also a frequent keynote speaker on tax reduction strategies and estate planning throughout the Metropolitan area for senior centers, investment clubs, churches and civic organizations and societies. John also was a contributing writer to “Senior Money Matters” a nationally syndicated column on financial planning.

Mr. Stohlman earned a Master’s degree in Finance from Johns Hopkins University and was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Towson University, with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics.

John, a native of Montgomery County, is married to Laura, who is also an Owner and Partner of Medallion Financial Strategies. They have been married since 1983 and have two children. John volunteers with a variety of civic charities. He has also earned his first degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. His hobbies include golf, raquetball and ballroom dancing.

Mrs. Stohlman started her financial planning career as a Securities Representative and Research Analyst in the Brokerage Industry. In 1986, Laura became an Independent Agent/Advisor working strictly for her clients. She joined Medallion in 1987. Laura gained her experience through her life’s work and continues to speak on issues such as retirement, investment, long-term care, and estate planning throughout the Metropolitan area for senior centers, investment clubs, churches and civic organizations and societies.

Laura is married to John F. Stohlman Jr., whom she considers her best friend, since 1983. They have two children. Laura and John along with Laura’s brother, Dan, and his wife Eydie, make-up the four partners at Medallion Financial Strategies.

Dan gained his financial planning experience through his education and work as a financial planner and investment professional. He is a frequent keynote speaker on retirement planning, tax reduction strategies and estate planning throughout the Metropolitan area. Dan has authored many financial articles in local and national publications. His financial views have been published in The Washington Post and heard on local radio programs. He is a former nationally syndicated columnist for Senior Money Matters.

Dan earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Public Administration (government economics) from Towson University, where he obtained Academic Dean’s List Honors every semester. He earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, CO. The CFP® designation covers coursework in estate, investment, retirement, tax and insurance planning. Dan has also successfully completed extensive training programs in estate, disability and life insurance planning from the Life Underwriter’s Training Council Fellowship.

Ryan Dunn ChFEBC℠, a partner with Federal Navigators, is a registered representative specializing in Federal Employee benefits. He earned his Charted Federal Employee Consultant designation by completing multiple training courses and passing rigorous examination covering the Federal Employee benefit system.

After helping hundreds of Federal Employees gain a better understanding of how to bridge the gap between employee benefits and retirement, Ryan co-founded Federal Navigators alongside the current partners of Medallion Financial Group; Dan Searles, John Stohlman, and Laura Stohlman.

In addition to working one-on-one with Federal Employees, Ryan speaks about employee benefits at local seminars, hosts a weekly podcast, trains other financial professionals on the Federal Employee benefit system, and publishes articles and videos aimed at making the benefit system easier to understand. His articles on retirement planning have been featured in Northwest Prime Time.

When Ryan is not strategizing and advocating for Federal Employees, he leads a weekly middle school Bible study, enjoys golfing, snowboarding and playing the guitar.
