Portfolio Management

How we manage investment portfolios for our clients.

  • 1. Set Investment Policy

Using your risk profile, investment timeline, goals, and current resources, our team will establish an investment policy for your portfolio allocation.

  • 2. Monitor

We monitor your portfolio and are alerted any time a change in your account value causes more than a 10% shift from the recommended allocation outlined in your investment policy.

  • 3. Rebalance

We will periodically realign your portfolio according your investment policy on a quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis, depending on the type of investment.

  • 4. Review and Update

We seek to meet with our clients at least annually to review progress and discuss account performance.

Our Philiosphy

We believe that discipline and behavior are the most important elements of a good investment strategy.

  • Behavior Matters

Let's face it, our decisions are often driven by our emotions. When it comes to investing, emotions can cause you to make poor decisions. Excitement may cause you to hold on for too long, or fear may cause you to sell at the wrong time. A sound investment strategy is built around consistent behavior and rigorous discipline.

  • Diversification

If history was an accurate indication of future results, historians would be some of the richest people on earth. Chasing last year's top performing assets may be fun and exciting, but it's not always the most logical approach. On the other hand, both a logical and emotional case can be made for broadly diversifying your portfolio.

  • Long-Term Perspective

You wouldn't get out of your car and start walking just because you hit some traffic, right? In the moment, it may seem like walking is a better option, but we know that sticking it out will eventually get us where we want to go much faster.

Along the same lines, you shouldn't abandon an investment just because it's not currently performing well. There may be other reasons to change your strategy, but it shouldn't be because of an emotional reaction.
